Oh the Lord is Good to Me!

Gus had a "sleep-over" with us on Sunday night. I think it's very special to have time with each of the grandchildren alone. I know we will continue to do that with each of them as the years go by. I find it's a way to get to know them better as their own little person. Gus, who adores his big brother, finds ways to shine without following along with what Carl does, when he's here alone. He has so many things to say and tell us. We were going to have dinner out on the deck....and Gus said he would pray, but not Carl's prayer. I asked which one he'd say, and he burst into our family's favorite, "Johnny Appleseed." Of course, I didn't really have the camera there for this video, but he was happy to oblige and do it again when I brought it out later. Oh--the Lord is truely good to ME!!!

Monkey Logan...or there's only one way...UP!

Logan was here for a few hours while his mom finished clearing out her school classroom for the year. We had time to play outside...and Logan found every possible place to climb that existed in our backyard!

He's very happy when he's going up, up, up!! Infact, he's happiest when he's climbing!

He climbed the woodpile that has the canoe on top....both from the front of it and the back!! At one point he kept saying "shoe, shoe!" and I realized his shoe had gotten caught and come off!

Then there was the wrought iron rack on the deck......

And I found him on Poppa's extension ladder....

So I finally found the small step ladder...
and he happily climbed up and over and down many times!! Yeah Logan!!!

A Bottom Sucker named "Algie"

Poppa and Carl went to the aquarium shop today to buy an algae eater, or bottom sucker for our aquarium. It was a great adventure, and when they got back they had to float the plastic bag he was in....and then release him into our tank. Carl named him "Algie", and told me that when he gets to be 12 inches long, the aquarium store will take him back and get us a new one. GREAT!!!

We got some "just Carl" time playing with legos, bringing some things to the storage unit, going to Culver's for supper, and a quick errand toMenards. It's so much fun to spend individual time with each of the kids!

Friday Playpark Playdate

A Friday Logan day...and we made a playdate with Jenn and her three to go to Sheridan Park in Richfield for morning snacktime. What a great place to play!! The kids loved all the new climbing, swinging, sliding equipment. Even Louise got into it by trying out the slide and climbing tubes.
The weather was "on-again-off-again" with dark clouds, sprinkles and sun. But it was windy, windy, windy!
I had mini-muffins made for snack, and Jenn brought the juice boxes! Great treats!

Gus loved the climber!

The small pebbles worked better than sand, and kept these three boys busy for a very long time!

Louise and Grandma explored the tubes!

"Spider Swinging"--Count the appendages...yup! 8 of 'em!

Carl created a tee-pee mansion structure...and decided he needed to bring home the sticks to work on it in his own yard. (Is is against the law to bring home sticks?)
Louise and Poppa enjoy a mini-muffin and a cuddle.
Logan's shoes when we got home!

It was a great morning for all of us. A good chance to play together, to just hang out....and get tired for naptime!!
