Finishing a Project

It was -35 degrees (windchill) today, so I called Jenn and asked if I could go pick up Carl from Pre-School today. There was no reason she should get out with the other two little ones. I am so happy that I am finally retired and am available for that. So I asked if he could also come have lunch with me, spend the afternoon, and I'd get him home late afternoon. Yea!!

He knew I'd be coming so he was so happy to see me when I showed up. We got to go to his hook for jacket and bundling up, and to pick up his papers in his cubby. Hand in hand we walked to my car...Carl busy telling me about his day.

He wanted to finish painting his wreath right away.
We had started a spring birdhouse
wreath before Christmas, and needed to finish the picket fences in white. We had such a super time. "Gramma, I really like to paint....we're good at it!"
Then lunch...Mac n cheese and hotdogs. The rest of the afternoon was spent taking out the Valentine decorations, trying out the tabletop fountains, playing with little legos, writing an email to Daddy and doing a craft project with straws.

I'm a lucky grandma...I got to spend the whole afternoon with Carl!!

An hour wellspent

I had Louise this morning while Jenn took Carl and Gus to ECFE Playgroup. It hasn't been very often that I've been able to have her alone. Just Gramma and Louise time... We played, she was ready for her nap, so I gave her a bottle and tucked her in. But, only a short nap. So we played some more, she got fussy, and we sat down to just talk and sing. Soon her sweet little head snuggled into my neck and she fell asleep. I just sat there, BEING in the moment, listening to her breathe. And I believe the most wonderful part of being a Grandma is having time. An hour spent holding a sleeping baby is time so well spent.

Let the Blogging Begin!!

I think it's about time I begin a blog to remember all the sweet moments of being a Grandma. I have many interesting areas to my life...but some of the most moving, most real, and most exciting parts are the times I spend with my Grandchildren. So this blog is about my adventures and times with them....as well as how privileged I feel in my role.

It's going to take awhile to get used to this blogging stuff. But, what the heck!! Looking forward to it. So...here goes!!
